They read it – they love it – and some are willing to TALK ABOUT IT!!!
*gasp*
SURPRISE! SHOCK! HORROR!
Ok, that’s a bit over the top, but hey, it’s a new year, I’ve gotten some sleep, and I’m very keen on teens reading, getting together, talking about books and movies, and having fun.
By all accounts, that’s exactly what happened at the Hope Mills Branch on December 18th during the program “A Vampire Story,” a book club/party celebrating the recent release of the movie Twilight, based on the bestselling novel by Stephenie Meyers. Here’s the details:
Edward Cullen Madness
Teens descended upon the Hope Mills Branch Library that Monday for an evening of nonstop Twilight mania a la the “A Vampire Story” program. And mania it was. Everyone had a fabulous time, decorating cupcakes, making Twilight magnets (complete with “sparkle”), and arguing about the relative hotness of Edward and Jacob. “When’s the next Twilight party?” they asked. “This is fun!” they proclaimed. Stephenie Meyer, I officially love you. -Vicki

Thanks for hosting this event, Vicki! Teens also quizzed each other with trivia from the book and shared their favorite quotes from the movie.
More pics available on our Flickr page and the latest on teen programs @ your library on our homepage. Check it out!
Always,
Missy

Hey, our library is doing something similar for New Moon, and they asked me to put together a party planner, listing New Moon related games, treats, and prizes.
FYI, I posted this New Moon party planner on my blog, so every librarian has access to it. However, it’s considered rude to post your URL in the comments of somebody else’s blog, so to be polite, let me just say that if you click on my name in the comments, it may very well take you to my site and my New Moon party planner. If not, try googling my site by title (Passing Love Notes).
Thanks for the info, Michelle.
Our teens (and quite a few of our adults – my coworkers included) are psyched out of their ever-lovin’ minds about vampires, vampire lit, and vampire-related….well, anything.
This is just one more thing with which I might enable their habit, and for that I am most appreciative.
One of these days I’ll get my act together and put up my list of vampire lit for teens. Check back if you’re interested. Have a good one and thanks again.
Always,
Missy
