Hello everybody!
Thanks for visiting the Teens @ CCPL&IC blog. My name is Missy, and I’m the assistant youth services coordinator for our library system, which is to say, I’m the teen librarian.
This blog started in 2007 as an outlet for announcing and highlighting all things teens, including upcoming events, relevant news and updates, book and movie reviews, and photo sharing (though the bulk of our pictures are located on our teen Flickr pages).
Either I or one of my co-workers (cohorts, co-conspirators, current blackmail victim) will be updating as often as possible, but we put a lot of time into the brick-and-mortar business of teen services at each of our seven locations, so sometimes it’s catch as catch can.
Use the comments section to offer your thoughts, opinions, questions, suggestions, and feedback.
Thanks for reading!

hi
hey
Hey, hi, and hello to you, too!
Hope you are enjoying your summer…if you have a minute, check out our calendar of events for teen programs in August 2007:
anime club meetings at Headquarters, North Regional, Spring Lake, and Cliffdale branches
sci-fi movie showings and a related costume contest at Cliffdale (be sure to check the dates, the costume event is on the second different night)
writing/drawing clubs at Headquarters and North Regional
a video game night at Spring Lake (cards and board games, too)
a mystery theater program at Bordeaux (who dunnit?!)
…and lots of other fun stuff, ya know, like books!
Thanks for stopping by the blog. Check back when you can!
Always,
Missy
I was wondering if you thought maybe it would be cool to have a design contest for your teens. You could have them design a layout for the blog and maybe rotate the top 5 ever so often or something.
Just an idea.
It’s a good idea.
Perhaps we could have contests for themed headers for special events like Banned Books Week, Teen Read Week, or the summer reading club.
I’ll make sure to put that on the list of “cool things that we should do with our blog.”
Always,
Missy
Hi. I requested to have New Moon sent to my library. The queue number is 6. Does that mean I have 6 people ahead of me waiting on this book?
Hello Sacred,
Was the queue number 6 before or after you added your request? If it was 6, and you put yourself in next, then when you refresh the page, the queue will go to seven. You are then seventh in line…
If you added your request, refreshed it, and then the total was six, then 5 people are in line before you.
Also, you should check the “unsatisfied” request field…if that number is lower, then that is how many people are still waiting for a book to be returned.
So the queue could have 7 people in it, but only one person with an “unsatisfied” request, that person would then get the very next copy of the title that is turned in.
So the wait is relative, depending on the status of the folks in line ahead of you. Clear as mud?!
You can always call up and have a staff member check the queue. He or she will then be able to tell you exactly where you stand.
While you’re waiting, you might want to check out some of the other vampy titles and series that I blogged about earlier. Here’s a link back: Bless me, Ultima, for I have sinned…
Thanks for your question!
Always,
Missy
pe9PcZ hi! its a nice site!
Hi Missy,
I love the site!
I am the author of Defining Twilight: Vocabulary Workbook for Unlocking the SAT, ACT, GED, and SSAT (Wiley, July 2009).
Defining Twilight uses the wildly popular Twilight saga to teach vocabulary for standardized tests.
I’d love to send you a copy of the book to review.
I could also provide 5 books if you’d like to do a book giveaway.
You can learn about Defining Twilight on my website, http://www.BrianLeaf.com.
Please let me know if I can send you a review copy.
Thanks!
Brian Leaf
Thanks, Brian!
I’ll send you an email with the details, and I look forward to checking it out.
Always,
Missy
