You’re burning up!  YOU’RE ON FIRE!

Oh wait, no…that was the library!  It’s like a children’s game of Hot and Cold gone bad, ya know?

Early Saturday morning, a fire broke out in a lower level office of the Headquarters Library

Unfortunately, the smoke damage is forcing us to cancel all Headquarters’ programming through the end of the year, which means that the National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo and the Young Writer’s Program) meeting for Paragraph 3, the Headquarter’s teens’ writing club, the Gaming and Teens Engaged @ HQU game night in December, and the anime clubs for November and December will not be meeting.

…but never fear, my friends, because teen authors are invited and encouraged to come to the Write Here, Right Now  teen writing club at the North Regional Branch (I’ll be there to hang out, write, and talk, too – ml), to participate in the NaNoWriMo activites or just to work on their regular stories or artwork (Thursday, November 6, from 4:30 – 6:30 pm).

…and anime and manga enthusiasts are welcome at the 5 other anime clubs around the library system, and there is gaming at each branch as well.  Check it out!

Here’s the official word about what happened/what is happening:  🙂

Attention!! Due to an early morning fire on Saturday, October 25, that caused smoke damage in the building, the Headquarters Library at 300 Maiden Lane will be closed for an indeterminate length of time. Books should be returned to any of the library system’s six other locations.

At this time, we do not anticipate having meeting or conference rooms available through the end of year. If you have a meeting room or conference room booked to use at Headquarters Library between now and the end of the year, you need to call one of the other locations to see if they have a room available.

The November 10 event featuring Leonard Pitts is still scheduled. Check out our web site for more information.

All programs scheduled at the Headquarters Library have been canceled through the end of the year.

Thank you all for your patience.  If you have questions about teen programs, please contact the respective branches.  More information will be posted on our website as it becomes available.
