Members of the Carolina Garrison of the 501st Legion menaced con-goers, to the delight of all.

Librari-Con 2010 was a great success: teens came, they saw, they danced funny little dances (“Uma uma dance” anyone?) and it. was. kinda. awesome.  🙂

We got a really nice write up in the Fayetteville Observer, too.

Librari-Con: Fans of anime, manga, converge in Fayetteville

Were you here?  What did you think?  Did you have a good time?  Leave comments and let us know, pretty please!

Check back after Thursday, Sept 9th and I’ll have the Librari-con 2010 photo gallery updated on the Teen Flickr page!

PICTURES ARE POSTED!

Enjoy 🙂

Thanks to all the library staff and community volunteers who help make Librari-Con possible, and to our enthusiastic Minions (teen volunteers) for their energy and dedication.  You all rock.

As always, thank you to our artists, guests, and sponsors.  As a public library, we have limited resources and often rely on good will, the spirit of cooperation, and donations to bring this program into being for our teens (and not so teenage) patrons.  🙂

Always,

Missy

Update: SRPE (Society for the Refinement of Polyvarietal Entertainment, and Librari-Con volunteers) has a gallery of Librari-Con 2010 pics.  Enjoy!

Hurricanes Diane and Earl tango over the Atlantic (August 29, 2010)

(Image by NASA/MODIS Rapid Response Team)

Okay, all together now.  We can DO this.

“Double rainbow, double rainbow, double rainbow!

Puppies and kittens and teenagers in cosplay!”

Earl, Earl go away, come again some…NO, just go away!

We’ve already had our flood (thanks to Tropical Storm Hanna), and we’ve been through our fire…wasn’t this year supposed to have been a plague of some sort?  Peeper frogs, perhaps?

Okay.  So here’s the deal.  If you’re on the coast, you might want to batten down the hatches  .   Librari-Con will go on as scheduled unless County offices are closed, but since we should be saying “Goodbye, Earl” early Friday morning according to NOAA, I think we’ll have ourselves a wonderful time on Saturday.  No worries!  🙂

See you at the Con,

Always,

Missy

Hello everyone!  You’re invited to the 4th annual Librari-Con!

There will be anime viewing, panels and forums, an Artists Alley, a Chibi Corner, a Manga Lounge, a Cosplay Runway, and activities for everyone.  This year we’re welcoming back special guests Kaysha Siemens, Eldanis Studios (featured artist), local artist Danny Hirajeta, Iron Clown Studios, and The Carolina Garrison of the 501st Legion of Stormtroopers

Snow Wildsmith, blogger for School Library Journal’s “Good Comics for Kids” column, joins us for a forum, along with many other talented guests and artists.  See our website for a complete listing and for more convention details including cosplay guidelines  and prop restrictions.

See you at the Con!

Always,

Missy

…because Danny never has his on when I see him.  He has been known to wear hats, though:

Danny Hirajeta - Write Here, Right Now - Halloween 2008

Danny Hirajeta (aka Iron Clown Studios) is a regular guest at the North Regional Branch teen writing club, Write Here, Right Now, and he graciously created artwork for this year’s Librari-Con.

robot libby - sm

He was recently interviewed for The Fayetteville Feed (read it here), and if you’d like to meet him and check out his artwork first hand, make sure to stop by Artist’s Alley on September 5th.

It’s always nice to be able to promote someone who shares their time and talent with the library and the teens that we serve.  Thank you, Danny!

Always,
Missy
